gday all,

just wondering who else keeps jardini? i have had a couple in the past, got another one at the moment around the 12" mark, hes fairly nasty to all the other fish. got him in with a pleco at the min. just wondering what everyone elses experience's are with them? i have a bigger one, around 18", coming in about a month or so. if i have to keep them separate thats fine but has anyone kept a few together in the same tank?

cheers

i got one and have had large ones before i think it depends on the fish and the size you introduce to a comm. but mainly they are aggressive. I have a friend that owns a lfs that has a very friendly 18"+ jar in the show tank with a lot of small fish in with it and chooses not to eat it.

oh yea? thats pretty cool. both the ones i've had have been a bit nasty to other fish. the one i have now gets away with attacking a dovii at the same size. i guess time will tell!

cheers

I had to trade in my old Jardini due to it being extremely aggressive at 7". My current Jardini, which is about 8" lives with a 2.5" Datnoid and a few small Polypterus. It doesn't bother any of them and usually does his own thing at the top of the tank.

I have a Jar about 8" now... grew him out since he was 2" he is one mean SOB... love him though... he not only patrols the top but would go chasing ma sens and clown knives as well... he sure does act like a goon in the tank....

I have one, almost id say 8-9 inches. So far no aggression but if noticeably smaller tank mate would definitely get bothered.

yea, i am going to put a couple together in a big monsters tank with plenty of room and other tank mates and just see how i go.

cheers everyone

I have a 6" Jar living with wide bar silver dollars and a tig and is doing fine. I hope it stays that way. Haha.

2 jars wont work - unless u hit the lotto! Size doesn't matter- whoever was in the tank first will most likely hammer the newly introduced jar, in my experience anyway
