I'm going to look at a "claimed" 220 gallon drilled tank soon for a good price. The owner has no idea who made it but wants it gone out of there garage before winter so they can park the car inside. The said it measured 72"x24"x31" so that puts it in the 220 gallon range but I can't find any manufactures tanks that are 31" tall. AGA is 29" Perfecto and older Oceanics are 30". Is there any others out there? I'm driving a few hours to look at it So I want a little info before I go look at it (I'm bringing 2 buddies and a trailer with)

What thickness should the glass be on a tank this size IF its a local built/home built tank? The tanks dirty (was used for saltwater), has 2 slightly noticeable scratches on the lower front glass pane, comes with a DIY stand/hood, and sump plumbing for 350$ which seems like a pretty good deal to me. no lights, no pumps, no filters are included but I really can't pass it up.

Sounds like a perfecto tank to me.

I agree with the above posts. A lot of the time the trim is not factored into the size of an aquarium per the description from the manufacturer.

Anything I should look out for on it? The owner say it held water just fine until this spring when they emptied it and move it out to the garage. All my other glass tanks are Older Allglass tanks and have been great so far but a new "reef-ready" AGA 210 is around 1000$ so 350$ allows me to upgrade my 55 gallon Malawi tank ALOT sooner. Hopefully I don't need to put too much elbow grease into it getting all the salt tank residue off the glass.

Just take a good look at the seams. If they look really rough, you might have to re-seal it. But it isn't that hard in the first place.

Gotta love some people. I had scheduled a time to look at and purchase the tank today, lined up 2 buddies to help me, and hooked up the trailer to the car. I get a call LATE last night from the guy telling me he just sold the tank for 300$ cash........ oh well, at least he called me before I drove 2 hours to find out it was sold.....
