I disagree. I have a breeding pair of carpintis and red texas and both dug out the nest. Then they laid eggs on a piece of wood... go figure.

Generally males form the nest by moving gravel and debris. I have had some males who've left this job for the females though. Considering that there's a BP involved, who the hell knows, they're probably both confused, lol. Good luck though, hope you get some 'super reds'.

i think my dumb bp quit on the carpintis bc it seemed like the bp wasnt dedicated to the nest making and just left the carpintis by itself... there still paired up tho
