well crap, the only picture I have online is this one and it's really small and I'm not on my computer to be able to upload any of the pics I have on my hard drive. maybe I can get back online later on my computer and upload some better pics.

oh yeah, the picture in this profile is mine as well and I wrote this profile for Amphilophus robertsoni . My robertsoni is actually my oldest fish. I've had her for probably over 4 years now and she's around 6" SL. I'm not sure why this cichlid would be called the "emerald green cichlid" since there's no green on it. There are a few different locale variants that have different colors, but again I don't think any of them are green.

anyway, this is a very cool cichlid, but their conspecific aggression is crazy. I was only able to keep more than one together in a 150 gallon with severar other cichlids. once I put them in a smaller tank together (had to move them into their own tank when I moved) this female killed off all the others. I had a group of 4 others that were quite a bit smaller. the largest male was no more than 3-3.5". This species grows incredibly slowly. they are a great cichlid though and I'm sure their breeding colors are spectacular, but they are definitely not an easy cichlid to spawn. in fact, of all the cichlid websites to which I belong I don't think I've ever heard of anyone spawning them. that was part of the reason I wanted to, but looks like that will have to wait a while.

:)

males I think get to around 7-9" ish and females somewhat smaller. I'm pretty sure my female in the pic is full grown at 6". :)

I haven't seen one for close to 15 years in the US. The fish that I did see, was around 10". I wish I bought that fish.

Yeah i heard they were quite rare in the states, My man in my LFS was saying that they shouldn't be that rare in the states what with them been central american species, But he also told me where i could most more than likely get one..... Gemany or Amsterdam. He said i shouldn't have a problem getting one from there. But if you ask me it's gonna cost a pretty penny just to go to Germany or Amsterdam just to get a fish even getting one shipped out to me will cost a lot.

i have a friend thats a cichlid farmer. ill ask him about it. **** maybe i can get you all one.

finally got online on my own computer, so here are some other pics of my robertsoni. in a couple of pics you can see one of the smaller males that she killed. :)
