Who uses dither fish????

Does anyone use dither fish for their aro tanks?

I've actually had luck with using tinfoil barbs for dither fish with my Jardini. The tank that my Jar is in has mostly catfish to prevent the massacre of endless tankmates...but I never used to see him. I tried floating plants, changed lighting, used darker substrate, but nothing worked. I picked up 4 tinfoil barbs from my lfs and ever since I've put them in there (s)he's out all of the time.

My silver used to hide quite a bit, but not nearly as much as my Jar. Now (s)he is out all of the time once my dats were moved into the larger tank with him.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

That's the exact reason why I chose them. They are rockets in that tank and if he decides to make a move...good luck catching them.

Yeah, same here. They have little nips on them, but nothing threatening.
 
I have a small school of silver dollars in with mine, which have grown as large as a man's open hand. My silver aro could care less, just ignores them.
 
my small butti's and oscar are the dithers of my 400gal. missing scales on a daily basis from my aros/rtc but it keeps em movin!
 
yes i keep dither fish they are 7 x 12inch tiger dats and a 12inch flagftail :D
 
the tin foil was to fast for my jar lolz mad funnyw hen he tried to eat him and miss he gave up after one day of chasing
