who uses Galvanized steel troughs?

I saw them today and was wondering if anyone used them by themself or if they added either a liquid pond coat or a pond liner?

Galvinized steel will leech zinc into the water and kill your fish. You must employ a liner or epoxy coating to make it inert and safe for fish.

that is what i thought, would pond armor stick to the steel and prevent the zinc from leeching?

Hello; I have not used galvanized for fish but have had dificulty getting paints and such to adhear to it. I am guessing that there is some potential cost advantage envisioned with using the galvanized material. The savings may well be reduced by the trouble and expense of preparing the surface and then the potential for release of toxins later if the coating is scratched or otherwise damaged?

well buying the 300 gallon tub is far less than it would cost to buy a 300 gallon aquarium or build one with plywood
