The people on here that use rubbermaid trashcans for storing water, are their any things I should know before getting one to hold water for water changes?

Ive been reading up on them and it varies from each account but some people say some colors are bad so what’s the color of yours?

That’s funny, that’s the same color that people on a saltwater forum were saying was bad.

I dont think there are any brute trash cans that have the nsf/ansi 61 rating for potable water. The grey ones can be used for food storage since it has a nsf ratig of 2, and 21.

Food storage approved is not the same as being able to store potable water.

I've stored Saltwater in the same can for water changes years ago did not have issues. Also this was 20 yrs ago.

I was planning to get a brute trash can for holding water when doing water change. I never know color makes a difference?

It’s not certain if color makes a difference but if you do some research you’ll find stories told by people that X color leached something into their water while another person will say that the same color is fine and they have been using it for years. I’m not sure about any of this and so far no one on here has a personal story about a certain color doing anything bad.
