Well the topic saids it all. I know you use Epsom salt for digestive system and aquarium salt for bacteria and infection. So do you use both or does epson salt kill infection and harmful bacteria. Because I'm pretty sure epson salt is not a salt but magnesium sulfate.

A salt is an ionic compound that results from the neutralization reaction of an acid and a base. There are many salts in the world. I've had people argue with me (even on here) "salt" (sodium chloride) is the same thing as Epsom salt (which has neither sodium nor chlorine, haha). Sometimes you just gotta scratch your head and move on. :)

As to your question, I don't use either regularly. Epsom salt can also be used to raise the GH level of your tank water (I have seen it in old rift lake buffer recipes too) and as a magnesium supplement for aquarium plants (or any plants...).

See in chem class I learn that too. 2 different compound. Epson salt works great on my African cichlid with sunken stomach. But should I also use salt to fight off other bacteria
