Who uses submersible pumps to drain their tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A ton of people here do. I use a cheap 1/2 HP sump pump from Home Depot. It does the job nicely, and it was cheap.

I use a marineland pump 125gph I just hook it up to a hose and it does all the work for me I of course gravel vac first then use the pump

would these pumps be able to pump water out of my basement an up about 4 ft out the window?.. my 200 gallon is in basement and windows are few ft up

You need to find out the actual head ( total lift) then find a pump which will lift it. Depending on gph you want to achieve decides a kw pump. For instance my sump pump is 6000 ltr's ph = 1580 gph but with the head to top of tank= 1190 gph.

I do, I think its 600gph, so draining takes me 15 minutes. Going to get an fx5 someday and use it like I did with my old one, it was awesome!
