This came as a pretty big surprise to me. I am in the process of weaning my pbass and juruense off of rosys so I have starved them for the past 3 days (I usually feed them twice daily). So today I figured that they would be hungry and at least the juruense would eat the prawn I put in there. Wrong, believe it or not the 2 of my 5 peacock bass accepted 1 piece. I dropped a piece right in front of my juruense and it brushed his wiskers and he darted off.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get this guy off of live food? I have also tried silversides in the past with him and he wont eat those either.

I don't have a juruense right now but what I would suggest is try feeding him some smelt. Around here I can get a frozen bag of it a the grocery store for $3.50 for a 1 pound bag. Thats just dead fish so maybe he will accept that, plus your p bass will probaly like it too. Thats what I'm going to try when I get mine since I already buy it for my rays.

this sounds nasty but try chopping the feeders in pieces and marinade the shrimp
in the "feeder juice ".. after an hour or two, try feeding the juruense with the marinated shrimp. Ive had success with cats and rays using that method from the old food to shrimps. Good luck and keep us updated.

Well I left a few pieces of prawn in the tank and turned off the lights an hour later he had a big fat stomach so i think this problem is solved.

good news! It really doesnt take much to make pims eat shrimps. Glad thats out of the way.

my B.juruense will not eat with the lights on. when i turn them off it turns into an animal. try some beef heart too.
