Whoa! Burbot?!

I just found this guy while looking up a local lake's fish population. I did not know these were in WA, but they are awesome looking!

We call them cusk. I caught small ones many years ago by hand or net, and larger ones ice fishing.

Yah I have yet to see a live one in person.....But I did find one in the little Androscoggin (dead) about a year ago. It took me forever to figure out what it was, and still wonder how it got there.

They call them eelpout in minnesota.. they have a huge festival up north in the winter thats kinda interesting

People throw them on the ice because some smart @$$es think they eat all the walleye and perch and that they are a garbage fish. The are one of the best tasting fish in my opinion. They are called poor mans lobster.. Check this out The world record burbot was caught an hour away from my hour in Saskatchewan, Canada.
