so today i came back from a 5 day vacation and all my fish in my main tank had white eyes, and ino its from bad water. And from my experience and by my observations i know theyre going to be blind. I found 3 fish dead: one 11 inch juruense and 2 monos. From how decomposed the juruense was and my logic i think the juruense got beat up by the others. And once it died and had been sitting there for who knows how many days, it fouled up the water which led to the other 2 dieing, which further fouled up the water. I did everything right before i left: i didnt feed them before i went, i did a 50% WC, i had added like 5lbs more media on top of my already 10lbs of ceramic rings a couple weeks before. The only thing i did see were all the monos were being very aggressive, i just had a gut feeling that something bad was gonna happen. I think they were doing breeding rituals becuz one pbass was redeveloping his hump. And im pretty sure i had 2 pairs:one def pair i got from bangin and a male n female i got from 1986.com. Im almost 100% sure they wont be able to see again, and i was wondering if i should just euthanize them? wud that be better for em? Anyways i did as big of a WC as i dared doing with the cold water hose, and i added salt. I regret now not harassing my uncle more to check on them while i was gone. and boy was i looking forward for the pair i got from bangin to breed:( Not even talking about how much money i lost, and these guys are irreplaceable.DAYUMN am i hurting right now:cry::cry:, and i dont know what to do. Im just thinking about selling evrything rite now and just leaving the hobby.

DONT LEAVE THE HOBBY :( you will have your ups and downs but the reward of fish keeping will always outway the badstuff that happens don get discouraged :)

Sorry to hear the bad news. Don't look back. Build it bigger and better. Don't leave the hobby.

Yes,Ken and Xenia said it best......and maybe some of your fish's eyes can be saved.I cleared up cloudy eye with melafix recently.I went through something similar last year when I went away.I had some jaguar cats check out while I was away which likely fouled the water and I came home to quite a mess and a large death toll.

He's right on with the Melifix and don't give up big water changes and melifix not to mention the great felling you will have after nursing them back...I know you can do it;)

Don't let frustration cause you to make rash decisions. I think with the water improvement the cloud over the eyes may go away. Stick with it.

Ouch, that sucks :( For some reason cichla, especially F0&F1 get eye problems real easily... Sometimes you can fix it and sometimes you cant, but definitely don't give up before trying! Might take a while too, I had a F0 kelberi with a messed up eye, thought it wouldn't go away and then after a month or two of clean water it disappeared. DONT GIVE UP!

Sorry mr. ! Be quick still, Bacterial! Maracyn2 or Furan2 with salt to save eyes. Go easy on salt..Im sure u treated before. Could have been dormant, then something stessed them bad
