i've both kept these species before but it's the first time i have them together in one tank.

who do you think will grow faster a TSN or a Giant Snake head...=/ yeap, it's a risk! but i'm planning to keep em there till they hit 6" or so and i get my new tank running.... they are just about 3 at the moment:)

wow.. good q.. both are extreme growers.

As far as my experience is the Micro will grow faster! i had a TSN earlier and it was clearly noticeable that the micro grew faster then TSN did.

either micro or around the same depenging on the fish , i have had tsn that grew really quickly and ones that have grew not so quick , micros allways grow quickly.

one thing to take into consideration is that most fishes growth is directly affected by nitrates , the more nitrate in the water the slower the fish will grow. snakeheads are not effected in the same way and will grow just as well in high nitrates.

the way to reduce high nitrates is to carry out large frequent water changes which the tsn will love but the channa will hate , in fact it is easy to loose a channa to to large a water change. you can reduce this risk by ageing the change water 1st and allways heat it the the same temp as the tank or even slightly warmer.

in nature and perfect conditions a tsn will out grow a micro in size and speed of growth , but when you take into account the nitrate build up in a tank the tables are normally turned

cheers col

depends on the feeding habits of the TSN. if its shy and a nocturnal feeder then its upto u to make sure u feed both as per their individual requirements.
