Who's down with the shark?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I DO!!!! I got one in a fricken cichlid tank, and he spends all day "cleaning" the giant plant and sides of the tank. How Big do they Get? I got mine by accident (I wanted a rainbow shark) but I've grown attached, most sites say 4" but found one that says 6", I'm hoping for the later of the two.

i've heard they do really well with giant gouramis but i've never kept a red tail

I had one many years ago that died quickly(within a few weeks)... then I went with just a black shark(he lived a few years and pushed 12-14 inches).

Shame they(Black Shark) get too big and are nasty...but I did get another Red tail about 1-2 months ago and he's doing ok. I also hope he gets to 6 inches.

I remember seeing a nice one in a petco, in a 10 or 20 gallon planted tank (a decent show tank in a petco, seriously) when I was about 10 years old and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

RTBS? I've got one in my 20 gallon long planted...

He's in with some green tiger barbs and 3 polka dot loaches. He loves the loaches, they all cuddle up together under a piece of dw. He is not the biggest fan of the tiger barbs... he will chase them off if they bother him, or if he's hungry and they get in the way. I never see any actual fin nipping, and I figure tiger barbs are jerks anyway so they can handle it. :grinno:

I think I'm going to move them all to a 40 gallon and add more barbs and loaches.

I think they are very cool. the rainbow or red-finned sharks are cool too.

I had one that was the Boss of the tank he was big and fat and beautiful, he was by far my favorite. I got him when I knew little about fish so I kept him with a Rainbow shark, needless to say that was a bad plan. They both lived together for a while, I lost the RTBS when was to careless with tank maintenance and he sophisticated.
