I have had to keep a steady supply of malaysian live bearing snails in my tanks (Good thing I get them free from my LPS)because they don't even have time to breed before they are eaten...lol.

Just curious. Who would you guess would be eating them? I have 2 one inch angelfish, 2 full grown cories, three 4-5 inch senegals and 5 feeder guppies in the tank. Whoever is eating them is also drilling a hole into the shell probably to suck them out....

My guess is cories but I never have actually seen who it is. ;)

My senegal bichir never really bothered snails until they died. Like I would see that a snail wasn't being very active. I would wonder if it was dead or dieing. I gave it a little time, but when I would check again there would just be a shell. With one snail the back of the shell was busted, like you mentioned.

I actually saw my bichir attacking an apple snail. The snail had gotten hurt by my filter hours earlier. The bichir must of smelled the blood or some other fluid. Before that they had been together for other 70 days with no problem.

Your bichirs could be more interested in snails than mine

would have to be the cories-Anne

highly possible some snails mate by drilling a whole into another snails shell and fertilizing
the female
