I'm probably going to be bringing in a senior G.Pig tomorrow.. I never really cared for them, but omg, they have stolen my heart!

My sister has one; I thought it was cool at first, but I despise it now.

It always squeaks at me when I come within 20 feet of its cage and will not shut up for a few minutes after that; attempts to pacify it with treats and/or hay have failed as has attempting to pet it (it hides in its hut instead). This little pig has only cemented my view of them as a large snake food and a traditional Peruvian food; however, they were kind of funny on South Park.

Maybe you'll get lucky and your guinea pig will be quiet and calm rather than noisy and skittish like my sister's guinea pig.

Well, the person has had the pig for 3 yrs, and it was supposedly 3 yrs old when she got it, so it should be close to death- as far as age is concerned. She said she's a calm piggie, and likes to be petted, so we will see.

Youtube videos also helped persuade my opinions.

Well, it being calm and enjoying being petted is a good sign; hopefully it'll live a few more happy years.

Maybe my sister just picked the one abnormally annoying guinea pig out of the bunch.

Haha. There is a G Pig at petsmart I might have to go buy on Friday if it's still there. Poor thing is the outcast of them all, and has his ear all bit up. I have heard that when they make noise it's because they want something..

Does your sister ever have it out to free roam, or does she handle it often? Maybe it's lacking human interaction; which they NEED.

store them in freezer bags or else they will burn and smell bad when you thaw them out. Leave them sitting at room temperature for a few hours to thaw so that they are no longer cool to the touch. Do not microwave them- they explode... trust me. Do not soak them in hot water because this washes the sent off of them and makes them less appetizing for the snake you are feeding it to.

wait... are you wanting them as pets? why?

Good luck with the second one should you choose to get it.

It gets petted and handled daily, and it gets to run around once or twice a week. It has the same negative response to everyone even if you're giving it treats or making an attempt to pet it; we never let it run out of food or water (with the Vitamin C supplement, of course), and it always has a salt block and something to chew on. Its cage gets cleaned out weekly, too, and it's in good health. I have no idea as to what could be its problem other than its just an odd guinea pig.

Oh haha, yes I mean as a pet.

It's the closest thing to a Capybara that I can get right now. And they are cute. If you have to feed them as food, then that's your choice- but I will take mine alive with a side of "being a pet". :P

Waiting on word from the Capy breeder. And yes, I'm serious. I love these things.

I'd choose a capybara over a dozen of these things any day; capybaras are awesome.
