Hey guys!

Seeing the poor Jar in a 55 kinda broke my heart, but also made me want one again...

So while I know these are brutes that don't like any fish, and will in most cases kill whatever bothers them, or even those that don't, I'd love to give it a go.

So the question is, who succefully comm'd a Jar, and with what? (Hoping it actually has been done, but given MFK, I am pretty sure it has been :p)

Edit: Tank's a 180, and the real reason I consider a Jar is because I can't find myself a black to save my life, can't house a silver, and am iffy about spending the bucks on an asian (not that they're much less aggressive)...

What's in the 180? Generally bottom dwellers are safe.

I've always had tank mates with all of my jardini , polys and decent sized cats I've had most success with , I have had hardy cichlids with them in the past but there never seems to be a balance of peace in the tank even if the cichlid manages to survive the jar it's constant fighting or death so it's not really worth it in a 180.
As for dither fish either large sd's or tinfoils can work it just depends on the jar and obviously there's always something that gets picked on so it's usually these taking the attention away from the bottom dwellers.
I've had a lost of failed tankmate attempts over the years due to trial and error , some were obviously stupid decisions on my part and some have lived with the jar for months without problem then suddenly a killing spree starts and you come home to a dead tankmates or badly injured ones , most things are gambles when It comes to jardini you eventually work out what yours will accept and what it definitely won't as tankmates and try find a balance of some sort

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. :)

I was hoping to be able to keep it with odoes and/or Pleuros (If I ever find them).
It has some bichirs and a few panaques, but those are always under the wood, so I was not really worried about them.
There's 3 SDs and I planned on adding a couple more since they are much more outgoing than I remember.

I'll eventually upgrade, once we know whether we can stay in the house or not, but I supposed the space would be alright until I find out whether I need to move.

I don't intend on keeping all those fishes in the 180 for life, I am not much of an overstocker, but I do like having many fishes while their size allows, and eventually part with them when the time comes (Which is what I did when my previous Jar was getting too big, alongside the Gar).

Funnily enough, my previous Jar had never attacked a single fish that was not feeder sized (whether an actual feeder or not xD). In hindsight, I should have kept him. :o
