OK, Heres the story...I bought the female black moor over a year ago. The male I got earlier this year. Over the summer he began to have those white spots on his gills and front fins. By July, my tank was flooded with goldfish eggs and quite a few hatched. A month later it happened again. I originally put any fry I could find in a floating fry tank. Then I learned not to put 6 week old fry with 2 week old fry. Because, then you end up with a bunch of full 6 week old fry and no 2 week old fry. :wall:

Most of the fry, I noticed, had straight tails. Maybe 20% of them had split tails, like the moors. Only 5 survived (2 from July and 3 from August). All, except the youngest one, has already changed from a dark grey to an orange color.

So, now I'm wondering, shouldn't these moors have all black moor fry? Or is it possible for them to have different types of goldfish fry? Or is my other goldfish, Sharkie, the dad?

I've watched the female moor lay the eggs, so I know shes the mom. Now, I'm wondering is the other black moor the daddy or is Sharkie getting some action?? :naughty:

Here are some pics of the two black moors. The female is the rounder one that is almost turning orange. Sharkie is the white goldfish. He used to be a reddish orange color until last winter (My wife rescued him about 7 years ago). The first two young goldfish were born in July, where one of them is just starting to change color. The third one was born in August and the other two are grey, but they were hiding in the plants and I couldn't get a good picture.

Any thoughts?

I think that the comet is the daddy, but just to be sure you could move sharky out next time you think she will lay eggs and see what happens. I dunno where you could put him though.

The babies are cute!
