Milky Way Galaxy,
Okay I just got 5 koi about 4days ago That were doing fine (2inches) now I have 10 (1ft) Koi's in there I put in last night so when I got
Up the water had a lil green tint from the siting algea I have didn't mind it much as I can still very well see the bottom but about 3 koi were hiding under my pump (moving still just around it, the pump is for flow 3,000GPH) some where just in one group hanging around the bottom moving but in place, and the rest are swimming around but just a bit skitish. I tried feeding them but they didn't eat the food. I took the food out but the ones that sank I left. The pond is 1,800gallons, 1 pond filter, 1 UV sterilizer, and one 3,000GPH pump. And I plan on adding some live plants, PLEASE HELP ME

they're just scared. getting used to there new homes. with time and they feel comfy they'll come up and beg for food when they see you.

What is your current water temp and water parameters? If I'm reading your post right you had fish in your pond that grew to 1ft from 2inchs and then introduced 5 new koi to this group? Correct? Did you quarantine the new fish before adding them to your main pond?

I wasn't much of a koi person, I had some in a pond. They will stay skittish and hide for a bit. Let them get use to their environment and then try feeding them.
Mine were trained, so I could bang on the banister(it ran under neath my porch and around the entire back side of my house.. ps. the porch was in the back..lol) when it was feeding time and they would ALL come to that spot. Its really neat how fish catch on to these things.

I'm hoping I read this wrong that you had (5) 2" koi for four days then you decided to add (10) 1' koi to your mix. That's a big bio load to add to a pond at once. Water temp will determine if you should feed your koi and if they will eat. Test your water and get back to us.

I had 5 (4days ago) now i added 10. LFS got a new shipment and said the Koi were really nice and selling like hot cakes he said if I bought 10 he would give me them for $20 instead of $24.99. My temp right now is 65F, my test kit ranout I have to buy some today but am leaving for my grandmas as we speak. But before I bought the Koi I went to my LFS to test my water he said everything was fine and I took his word I've known him for a long time and kno he wouldn't scam me.

I am currently leaving my house right now and my test kit has ran out I will be checking Sunday I know am stupid for doing that but i couldn't pass up that offer. When I come back Sunday (mourning) I'll post my parameters. Sorry for the spelling and grammar am using my iPhone and it's not very good with fourms.

They should be fine in a few days. Koi get pretty skittish when moved to a new place. One thing we did in the store I worked at was float the tops of styrofoam coolers in their ponds for the first day or two so they had something to hide under until they were used to their new home. Good luck

Thanks for the advise. Will they be okay without foid for 2.5 days? Sorry for my irresposobility its just that everything happened so fast cuz I forgot my grandmas was having surgery today but I will certainly update sunday mourning

New arrivals do get skittish as stated by other posters and take some time to come around. I would def check your water in a few days especially given the added bio load on your system to be on the safe side. Hopefully they will begin to eat by then. A few days without food is not going to hurt them.
