So my 20H started as my feeder guppy breeding tank... nothing special.. some old gravel, an extra piece of decor... The guppies bred like crazy didn't have to buy feeders anymore! yay! and then..
2 Bichir's at the local petsmart looked like crap... 2 spiney eels as well. they where fed strictly shrimp pellets and surprize the eels whern't eating them and both the bichirs looked miserable as well. so being a bleeding heart and knowing i was just encourageing them. but ultimately feeling sorry for these fish I bought them. Now where to put them? You got it! well every was eating well on frozen and picking off some of the baby guppies but not makeing much of a dent. Unfortunately the eels where doing so well one night they both jumped ship and commited suicide for no apparent reason, They where feeling frisky >.< it stunk.
So few monthes later when I was picking up my fire eels for my other tank, the lfs I usually go to had gotten some nice TT's in w/ the shipment. Smaller ones and since I spend most my paycheck at his place the owner offered to cut me a good deal on one. He rarely gets them in and said a few customers had inquired after seeing my fires and not lieking the price tag. So I picked out a gorgeous lil' guy to take home with me. now he's only about 4" compared to the 3 fires 12"+ so no way was I even gonna try that. So plop into the tank w/ the bichir's and the guppy herd...
I now have 3 big female guppies left -.-.. after less 'n 2 weeks... time to bust out the 20L in storage. and hook up those sponge filters I been saveing for some reason.....
and yes I'm useing that tank as a grow-out for the TT and Bichirs.
Oh and when your dad says he's gonna set-up his old tank.. and it's father's day.. wait until after he gets the tank set-up to special order him fish...especially if he's an african cichlid fanatic.
