I have had on of these for a bit now. Recently added a zebra oblique and the compressicep has been very aggresive. Any reasons why

who is this stranger in my territory? since it can not mate with it, and can not eat it, its competition.

your compressicep are known for attacking the eyes of other fish, they have a nick name of eye eaters, not sure how much stock i put into that, watch your zebra.

he have a cave to stake for his own? Africans are real territorial and like there little caves and patch of sand to protect.

with African cichlids there is no getting away from aggression, only mediating it, this done with small caves and such for each fish to have its own home per say. or stocking the pee out of it so there so many that know one fish gets singled out. I will not try Africans because its so hard to find a balance I can live with.

I would suggest stacking your decor on the back of the tank, and getting some more rocks or small terra cota planters and stacking on the back, make the back of the tank like a rock shelf or cliff. again just what I would do if I chose to run Africans, and I do not. Hopefully some that does will pipe in and help you out better than i can,:)

I had a male A. compressisep that showed strong nest guarding aggression and would bite my hand if I placed close to his nest. He was only 4 inch, and his courage is greater than his size.
