When I first added my cichlids to my 55 G tank, my green severum was getting picked on a lot and he is the biggest one in the tank (about 4"). He was always hiding. The tank has a Blue Acara and Firemouth about the same size 3" maybe more, and a JD that is growing fast (probably 2" now). The FM ruled the tank and constantly chsed the Sev and the Acara.

Now the aggression level is a lot less. The sev still gets chased a little but not even close to as much. Also, the FM has calmed down a lot too. The suprising thing is that I raised the temp (it's 80-82).

What could have caused the aggression level to go down? I would have thought it would have only gotten worse. I want to know so I can keep it up.

Assuming they were just added to the tank, the dominice has been established.

they have their pecking order established now, that would probably be the reason.

that and those particular species are not all that aggressive

I'm REALLY happy that they are less aggressive. I thought I was going to have to remove the severum because the FM was sooooo mean. Now he's calmed down, but his colors aren't as bright. Does that make sense?

the meeki might have become bored of chasing the severum, personally id be happy with the decreased aggression level's but if u want to see blood guts and death stick a male dovii in there.

You're fish are teeny and not particularly aggressive anyway.
