So I have a 20 gallon rubbermaid container for my feeders. I have a sponge filter rated up to 25 gallons running on full too.
The container has been setup for over a month and it was speed cycled with old media. Three or four weeks ago bought 100 feeder guppies for it, and lost maybe 2-3 a day for a couple days. For the most part, the feeder guppies did very well though. I would also occasionally throw in less than 10 rosys too as the number of guppies dropped.
Then a shipment of massive rosys came in. I added maybe 10, and then neglected the feeder tank for a couple days and when I checked on it, I had like 8 dead rosys and a couple guppies. I did a massive water change and added in some more rosies and a couple small goldfish. The rosies and goldfish all died within like three days. I do two small water changes a week.
Today I tested the water and there is 0 nitrite and <.25mg/l ammonia. All the guppies are doing great, but rosies and goldfish keep dying. Why is this?
