I just put in aquarium salt to and raise the temperature in my tank to take care of my cichlids ich and mouth disease...but now they are seeming to breath harder and I was just concerned...I checked the ammonia level in the tank and it seems to be fine...Is something wrong with my fish or is it just because of the treatment?

if your water params are good then theres a good chance it could be gill flukes. you can treat flukes with clout. good luck

Ummm there's only 1 fine amount of ammonia...and that's zero. Many medications will destroy your biological filtration in the aquarium.

How much salt per gallon did you add to your aquarium and what did you raise the temperature to? It's not a bad idea to add an air pump to increase the water circulation to the tank, especially when the temp. is raised in to the upper 80's.

it says that i have to add 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons of water and i put in 5 tablespoons because i have a 55 gallon tank. and the temp is 82...could it be too hot and too much salt?

Add more aeration, with warmer water comes lower oxygen levels.

Yes indeed as he said when you raise the temp in the tank the oxygen levels will deplete, you need to add a bubble wand or an air stone to increase the oxygen level in your tank.

Your temp. is not very high and the salt you added should also not be a problem. If you have an extra pump, even a small one, put it in just to be on the safe side.
As far as your ich problem, you might want to bump the temp to 86-88 and add a bit more salt. What worked for me in one of my 55s with ich recently and what I do to all my tanks is add 1 tbsp for every 5 gallons. Wait until tomorrow and do a 25% water change and add 5 tbsps of salt. For the next 5-7 days continue doing small water changes (15%-25%) daily and add 1 tbsp of salt for every new 5 gallons of water you put in. I've had great success doing this, I hope it helps.
