Why are oscars messy eaters?

Why are Oscars such messy eaters? Mine probably only completely swallows like 1/2 of his food. He is an all out slob, Thank God for Plecos.

I don't know, but mine is insane when it comes to feeding him.

They are not messy if you feed them real meat (frozen fish or shrimp etc)

its messy cause they "chew" and then spit out their food and take it back in

my oscars used to eat anything, and it seemed that alot of the food would shoot out of their gills while eating

Mines a messy eater too,I read its cause thier teeth are in thier throat and theyre chewing the food to size as they swallow.If I feed mine hikari pellets one every 20 min hes a lot less messy

Mines not fat yet, but he could definitely get there the way he eats. Definitely a slob though!
