I just bought a two jewel cichlids a few days ago and at first they were happy exploring but then one of them went into hiding and now the other one has gone into hiding. They will only come out when it is feeding time. I have four cherry barbs, two rummynose tetras and three lemon tetras and they have had no problems it seems but those two cichlids ate three shrimp that I had just bought only leaving one that is to big to fit in their mouth. Help me please.

That's normal behavior. You'll see them get more bold in time, but they aren't open water swimmers like tetras and danios. My bet is that you'll like them much better, though. Plus, they are stunning when in breeding coloration. But (like most fish) they will eat anything that fits in their mouth!:)

yep yep all is good

well, maybe this is only my luck, but my jewel has killed every fish in my tank... He attacks everything that moves, or attempts to come out into the open... just my luck

No jewel chiclids are mean mofos they will normally kill everything in the tank even for the small size. Even if the thing is a little less aggresive the Jewel will rip it apart. One bit my freinds' plecos head off.... the meat was white in colouration.... yummy:headbang2

If you are worried about it, add some more rock or hiding spots. It takes time to adjust to a new spot.

jewels are not mean. but, they are also going to kill all the fish in your tank. i have had much luck keeping them with other "like minded" fish. mbuna mostly, and some haps. however, if you get a breeding pair, which is unlikely, then they will terrorize the whole tank to protect their eggs, fyi.
