Why are blood parrots so popular to breed with? I'm not a fan of how they look, but do they produce awesome looking fry when crossed with a ZZ or red dragon or even a carpintis? My LFS has a female that is laying eggs all the time and could probably breed with my male carpintis. What would fry look like? Would I have to cross the fry back with one of the parents to get a decent looking fish? Just wondering why a blood parrot.

Thanks guys.

Mods I accidently posted this in the media section. Can you move it?

They are most popular I think because they are the main cichlid that really get along with FH's. I have one with my FH and they get along great.

Yes they do make good looking babys. I think it was if u breed with Texas u get red Texas, there in kamfas aswell. U seen ingots or mommons? Those are good looking fishes

I've had them for about 8 years now and I had previously been keeping fish for 12 years.
I have to say, they are not just any tropical fish, they make super pets and really love people. My kids have grown up with them and they look out for them each morning...on both parts!

Parrot fish are great. I don't care what others say. Sometimes it a matter of lucking out with them. I had some which were always pale and others were red. I sold some I just kept this true really red blood parrot fish. They do look nice when breed with FH also. A great fish all around.:)
