Why Can't I Find Any Decent Fish? Bone Dry!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't decided yet but I've been looking around and it seems like slim pickings.
Aquabid is relatively dry, Rapps' list is shorter than ever, Dan has only one species of interest to me, Ken is gone as far as I know..... It just seems like the variety is dwindling.
Again, maybe it's just me.

Well between the two you mentioned and Gage, there aren't a lot of species of CA cichlids left that aren't for sale... Maybe you're just bored? Could do a non-cichlid tank.

maybe a dwarf tank? i was thinking about that myself.your in NY? if your not far from north NJ,visit a few good stores:absolutely fish/clifton,shark aquarium/hillside,aquascape/belleville

I agree with Virgil. Dwarfs may be something to think about. Apistos and even Dwarf Pikes look amazing. I'm considering putting together an Apisto tank too.

Funny, I was gonna head out to SA today but.... where did the day go? I may try rebuilding a nice collection of plecos like the one I had a few years back. It took me so long to acquire them all though, and they're so expense....

Back to what I was getting at with this thread (the title is a bit misleading).... I'm not saying that there are no quality cichlids (or quality sources). What I'm getting at is the fact that there don't seem to be very many oddball species available right now. Or at least none that inspire me. Ornatum, micros, heroina... well I guess the heroina fit the bill.
And where is snookin, FishJunky?...
Ok, it can't just be me! I'm bored with good reason.

Not to make it depressing but there are only so many species. And once you go through most of them, it's going to be harder and harder to get excited. I'm working on 4-5 species and i don't know what I'll do after I "figure them out".
