Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species "CITES". I help out at a lfs and we often have to get cites paperwork with some of our corals and marine fish. I just wanted to know why you can't get the needed cites paperwork for a farm bred asian arowana? Anyone know?

thats because its not CITES that restrict the import of Asian arowana to the US. its Congress that restricted it. Its under the endangered species act. Back in the late 70s when they the term "endangered species" was adopted.... since then Asian arowana have been on the rise.. but our government still banned it because no one decides to revisit.

because of the endangered species act and politicians pass stuff under the guise of actually caring to get votes.
