Well came home from work to feed the fish and my gold Burmese loach was sitting fight up front by the glass. I looked closer and to my horror, it's eye was plucked right out!!!! Why is this happening to me. Just found a dead 2.5" fat tiger barb too. Only fish that I could think of that did this would be the zebra loach because later night I saw them two going at it over a spot under the big Anubias plant. Do you think it could've been the queen loach? Everything was fine till till today after I added the queen loach on Sunday. I'm so disappointed. I really like that gold Burmese loach.

Yes, certain loaches can do that. Hence I keep only clown loaches. Its really sad. I imagine how you feel right now...

The wound should recover. Keep the water clean. But you may want to consider hand feeding this fellow. He won't be as competitive.

I've heard that some species of loaches are very aggressive and the less aggressive loach specie will suffer from bullying.

Forgot to mention other tankmates are 1 tiger loach, 1 skunk loach, 1 zebra loach,
3 Yasuhikotakia ??? Pike cichlid compressicepes. These are the contenders. I highly doubt it's my catfish or Geophagus.

That's why I avoid mixing loach species and try to have a decent number of one species to disperse aggression. Sorry for your eye ball loss and I hope he recovers well

I'm gonna keep an eye on it. If I notice that it's struggling then I'll move him out to the petricola's tank.

The yasuhikotakia sidthimunki is my guess. I considered them at some stage but since I keep corydoras....they've been known to eat corydoras eyes...Lovely and playful loaches though but not for every community tank.

There's 3 of them and they fight with the tiger constantly. I can hear them clicking every time the tiger goes annoy them.
