Why did my fire mouth loose all its colour?

The first picture is what it looks like now, an the second picture is what it looked like a couple weeks ago. The only reason why I'd think it lost its colour was because I took out the other male fire mouths and there's only peaceful fish in the tank?

You could be right. If that's the only change you made. There could be a ton of other reasons why.

The current firemouth could be female maybe? And losing the stripes since she lost her mate?

If he's definitely a male, then I dunno.

mine has done that a few times.. wasn't stressed either.

You can put a mirror on the tank for about 10 minutes twice a day and itll help color it up. Most firemouths tend to go through a dull stahe or two as they grow
