Got home from school today and i was expecting to see a dead baby bowfin, ever since i got both of them one hasn't been eating. I tried everything to get him to eat but he wouldn't and was very thin. So anyway i get home today and i find one of the two dead but for some reason it looked like a very painful death....If you look in the pics below the bowfins mouth is wide open and it almost looks like its back was broken back. The other eats and was bigger to start with so i hope he makes it. Still really sad cause bowfin is my favorite fish and i finally get them but there sooo hard to care for as fry...:cry:

Is that a pile of parasites next to him?

Blood worms i put in this morning that they didn't eat so i gotta clean them out.

Oh. I don't know then. I do hear this happens a lot with bowfin, though. Sorry for your loss! :(

well, i had a problem like this once and a few fish died. There are a lot of possible problems dealing with water quality. Mine happened to be a pH swing. They wouldnt eat anything, and after half my tank died i did a water change with water i knew was safe for them, and they were fine.

his death could have been a broken back? just freaked and hit the hood? just from the angle im looking at, thats all.

sorry for ur loss, RIP little guy
