i see on this site i see dont hav no rocks in the tank or other tankmakes with them is that a way to lower they stress?

what?

Welcome to MFK, many flowerhorn are kept seperate because they will fight with other fish. the bare bottom tank is just preference, some say it's easier to keep clean.

BTW mine is with rocks:)

To bring out the beauty of these fish its all about pampering and water quality. I add handfuls of gravel, or coral chips so they have something to play with but not having to worry about food and poo getting stuck in gravel helps the water out greatly. I know a lot of discus hobbyist practice this as well.

And as for the tank mates... ya flowerhorns are bastards and its only a matter of time before there is a dispute and they can can bring on the pain!

I dont recomend bare bottoms. It does no purpose unless you hire someone to scoop the poop right away as it breaks away from the anus.

stuff gets stuck in the gravel, we all know that. If you rinse the filter every few days with tank water, it will keep your water a lot cleaner than the normal way of doing things. I like gravel in my tanks, and use it in all of them. But like Danz says, I try to use very little in my flowerhorn tanks. Just enough to make it look nice, and clean often. If you have a bare bottom, the current will catch any debris and it will go into your filter, and as long as you rinse filter often with tank water, your water stays very clean.

i like putting in rocks or gravel something they can play with
that sure does bring out some character
only one of my FHs is in a tank with sand and she keeps bulldozing around the tank and trying to give a facelift to the tank whenever she can
