It seems like every time I add a new addition to a tank with a BGK they always "sniff" the new tankmate from head to tail for about 30 mins.

My best guess is to distinguish the new tankmate from food during the next feeding??

BGK don't see stuff with their eyes, their eyes r almost useless to see, the reason they do it is to see/feel with his weak electric sensor which is by the tip of his mouth..-i think

they cannot see very well.. so they sniff and touch to figure out what it is..

That's what I figured. I knew they had poor eyesight. Still funny to watch. So far no tankmates have taken offense to the touchy feelyness of the BGK haha

They're kind of dog-like...they like to sniff around to see what's going on, lol!
