Why do my hands dry up

Why do my hands dry up and start cracking every time i put my hand in my aquarium water? Alotta aquarium store owners have terrible hands y is this?

For softer hands, add salt??????? Or maybe they don't use lotion knowing that their hands will be in contact with tank water.

That is a common problem. I think constant water contact washes away the natural oil/moisture on the skin. What I found to help is to use "Neutrogena Norwegian Formula" hand cream. It works on contact. It's the small 2 oz container that sells for $3+ at Walmart. I tried everything and that is the only thing that worked for me.

I work with metal and find the opposite, after work my hands are all dry and roughed up after putting my hands in the tanks salt and freshwater I notice my hands become very moist for the rest of the night? maybe certain hands react to the water different? weird?

Hand washing before going in the tank? Water in the tank is harder than the water you normally encounter? I've never noticed that myself.
