State of chaos
A junkie dropped this little guy/gal off on my stoop a few hours ago, with an obvious BS story about how he was tied to my railing. She didnt address why he is clean, groomed, hydrated, fat, and friendly. He's a beautiful animal, if we didnt already have one I'd love to keep him but alas my parents said no before I could even ask.:( my mom has a likely taker as a possible new owner, if anything a foster owner, luckily.
I realize that the owner has a lot going on in her life right now, and there is a lot more sadness here than just the dog's side of the story. But I cant help but to feel animosity towards animal abandoners. I have other names for them too, but none that are appropriate on MFK. :/

But I just cant fathom how someone with this animal could ditch it like that... if I had this dog, as sweet and friendly and beautiful as he/she is, I would never part with it.
One thing is for sure though, MY dog Prince will be sleeping extra close to me tonight.

Thats a shame, hope he finds a good home, If I had farm there'd be no limit to the number of dogs I would have.

There are too many out there and not enough good homes, especially right now. We used to take in 2-12 in each year, vet them, and rehome them but I can't anymore because nobody wants to pay even my low fee of the meds, tests, and spay/neuter anymore. The OKC shelter has built a new building in the past few years and has been trying to go no kill for awhile but is struggling too because of low adoption rates right now. They even announced this past week they were going to do catch and release on cats now instead of trying to hold them all or put them down. Unadoptable feral cats will be veted, spayed or neutered, and then released in the same area they were picked up if they are healthy. The thought is that the cat is surviving already and by spaying or neutering it they are providing population control. They also get tattooed for tracking purposes. The cat has a chance to have someone find it and give it a home and quite a few strays are fed by people too. They also have a barn cat program in the state too. I can't argue much, my fees as a rescue were on average $100 to do everything, I can't beat them on it - they have adoptions for free for some animals, $25 for some, $25 each for two or more adopted at the same time (doesn't matter the age here), the the most is $50. They reduce the fee if the animal doesn't get adopted within two weeks and once they are in adoption they stay there until they are adopted. I just can't compete even as a rescue with that, and I still get a couple calls a month. I hope your pup finds a new home soon, I don't know how other bigger cities are, I know I could post my rescues in Chicago and have homes set up quick and then transport them over, here there are soo many though it takes forever.

Well atleast it will not be left to fend for itself. I will never understand how a person can do stuff to animals

You'll understand why once you live on your own, and not with your parents, or may be you should ask why your parents said "no"
