hey i dont know why but when i buy fish i like to buy them in pairs ,
the reason i like to is because:

you can see which one grows up to be a stunner
if one dies you still have 1 left
if one is realy aggresive you can sell it and keep the calmer 1
maybe get a breeding pair but i get fish in trios if i want a breeding pair
i dont like how it looks having 1 random fish they look beter when you have 2

why do u buy fish in pairs , trios, singles , etc
right now i have

3 synspilum growout
2 texas growout,
2 midas growouts
2 pearsi growouts
2 vieja regina growouts
2 argenteana growouts
2 grammodes growouts
2 zonatum growouts
2 jaguar growouts that i breed

this is all in a 180 g will get rid of all the mean fish so i can have a nice community tank and im looking for a breeding pair of synpillum thats why theres 3 and all these are f1

so why do u buy fish in pairs, trios , and singles and state the fish and why
also how does my stock sound think i can get away with it

I think you are way overstocked for a 180 and I seriously doubt you won't have aggression problems. Most aggressive cichlids are best kept in pairs IMO. Buy 6+ of a fish and hope for a pair. Maybe try an all male tank if you want a big community setup. A lot of your fish are very difficult to sex though...

no im not looking for pairs i bought alot of fish so when they are older i will keep the best looking one out of each so i would only hae 10 total fish, but as time goes i will lessen the stock but thats not the point of this thread this is not a "180 g stock" thread its a thread saying why do u buy the amount of fish u buy, and i wroye im only looking to get a pair out of the synspillums to breed them in a different tank and to keep 1 out of the 3 in the main tank

Sounds good. Just watch out for aggression (which you know). The pearsi stick out as something that will likely outgrow a 180 (gorgeous fish though). There is no set rule for stocking with aggressive centrals, one mix may work for someone but not for someone else due to individuals. Watch out for hybrid pairing too, that would be something I'd personally not want. Good luck with getting a pair, I'm going for a pair of argentea and a pair of freddys out of my group of 6 and 5 respectively.
I generally always have the goal of breeding a fish if its something like a Cichlid. With centrals, I buy 5 or 6 and get rid of the others when a pair has formed either to other local hobbyists or the LFS. With others like my apistos, I buy them as pairs. With stuff like schooling fish, like my black neons, I bought a group of 30. With my corys, a group of six with hopes of breeding them (wish I had bought more but I have successfully bred them now).
Just depends on the fish and the goal. I try to keep social fish like loaches in groups, I have a single BN pleco, etc.

I tend to buy singles because I keep CA cichlids and often their conspecific aggression can be much worse than interspecies aggression. My last CA "community" had a single GT, JD, con, and FM. I originally had three male cons in that tank instead of just one but the bullying towards each other was relentless. I try to keep my fish as healthy and unstressed as possible, so I get singles to avoid torn fins and conspecific aggression as much as possible.

I buy singles.

When you ride the bichir addiction train, it could be hard identifying one from another of the same species.

I buy singles, for the most part. I like to keep a variety of fish and see how they interact.

If I don't plan on breeding I tend to buy trios. It's in case I loose one and so I can keep the nicest looking one.
If I'm planning on breeding I tend to buy 6.

Depends on the species. I like to have more than one of a species for aesthetic purposes , and also many tetras/barbs/etc are social and need to be in a group to maintain their health.
