why do we call them monsterfishes?

because of the sise?

I say both. I would call a huge fish a monster but at the same time the little mean convicts monsters too. What they don't have in size they make up in aggression.

Well thaught out starting thread to hit 10 posts

Size, attitude,looks and how people react when they see them. I had a large Irwini that used to scare my wife everytime he came out just from his looks.
