why do you keep cichla?

They are the fastest, most agile, and elitest predator in the freshwater aquatic world.

They are also very smart too, and quite friendly towards their caretaker.

Constant entertainment
I was watching tv the other day and heard a load banging in the tank
I looked over and saw all four of my cichla hammering the front glass trying to get a moth that was flying about 2 foot from the tank

Iv pretty much kept everything and cichla are by far the most fun

i like them outa all fish cause they are just different never had a fish that was so fast, that could change colors and still look cool, and i love how when i come up to the tank they run and they they are running into the glass waiting for u to drop somthing in

:nilly: :nilly: im gettin my first this week....cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I strongly agree!

I think the other posts have summed it up for the most part. I love predatory fish, particularly those that gulp down their prey in one swift gulp. And when it comes to this type of predator, the cichlas just do it best. They are so incredibly quick. I've had mine rip a shrimp right out of my hand before I realized I was even holding it in the water. Add to this the fact they are colorful, come in many variants, and they are typically quite peaceful for a cichlid their size, and I think you have the total package. Plus they get large. I'm looking forward to having a 10' long tank in my living room with a handful of 20"+ pbass cruising around in it.
