I love fish keeping for so many reasons.
I enjoy the interior design aspect whey you find a way to tie a tank into a living space. I enjoy designing the aquarium itself with DIY projects like hoods, stands, and filter construction. I enjoy the aquascaping, the selection of stock to create a cohesive viewing experience and a unique blend of personalities. I enjoy the care of my animals, creating special diets, etc. I enjoy the collecting aspect as I finally have enough tanks and a house in witch to keep them all so I can actually house almost any fish I want(freshwater). I enjoy raising the fish and watching it develop its own quirks. If there was one act that bored me its ritualistic cleaning, but I enjoy devising ways to circumvent this. At any rate I think the reason I enjoy keeping fish is that is gratifies almost every personality tick I have. How about you?
I've seen some setups on here that show some people don't care about the tank and how it effects interior spaces, or even the lack of aquascaping in some tanks. Some people seem to only keep fish as specimens and not pets, I for instance don't really care about "nature" I don't have a Malawi tank but rather will mix and match all my Africans... I'm not against any of this but it just demonstrates how many different people are brought together by the same hobby. It was an aspect of this web community and this hobby that has always fascinated me.
