Why do you like to fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
1.Why do you like to fish?
spend some time with my parents and the surprise of not knowing what we'll get

2.Any dreams?
tarpon on light tackle? :D or a giant lingcod, i mean like those alaskan giants , its scary how big those things get ._. their heads are bigger than ur head

3.What was your hardest fight?
80lb alaskan halibut

4.How many Large fishs you have ever catched?
that alaskan halibut, some good size bat rays, nice redfish up to 15lb ( really fun on light tackle)

1. I like to fish to be out in nature, and to see what I can catch.
2. I dream of catching Grass and Silver Carp for money, (the federal govt is looking into ways to make a profit of the invasion).
3. Big Bluegill (2 1/2lbs) while fish for Trout on 2lb test and a small spinning reel.
4. Ive had some big Common Carp and Catfish.....I think the hardest fighting was a big Common Carp who broke a medium heavy pole (I cut the line after it made a nasty cut on my hand while trying to pull it in with half my rod broke) Im guestimating it was over 30lbs from the looks of the size of it. PS I still go fishing for Carp in that same area of the James looking for that carp.......one of these days Im gonna get'em!

1. I like the challenge of being out on a large body of water and having to find structure that holds fish then figuring out what they will bite. Plus the fight.

2. Catching the state record striped bass or spotted bass.

3. Hooking into a 42.3lb striper in 80ft of water on 10lb test

4. Caught a dozen or so stripers above the 30lb mark, a few catfish in 25-30lb range, a couple of 3.5lb crappie.

The reason why for me is when you land that monster(LMB for me) the feeling is unmatched. There maybe better feelings but for me that feeling is in a catagory
by its self!!

Hey MFK Fishermen and ladies,

I like the thrill in fighting the fish
And my dream for fishing is to catch any fish that weight 20lbs and up xD
If I do get kids I want them to fish with me :P
I have never had a good fight...largest was channel catfish 4 lbs >_<

How about YOU? :)

I fish for food and to spend quality time for myself..and I dream of going fishing to sea in a private boat, my hardest fight was at 8 years old when I pulled the catfish out of the water and it came flying after me, did not understand why something that was underwater was suddenly flying...My largest fish was from a local lake near where I live, in Spanish they are called "Chopas" pretty good when floured and fried..

1. I like to fish as it's entertaining, fun and the rewards are gratifying after you've caught your limit for the day. Once they're cleaned, wrapped and frozen, it provides a nutritious meal later on.

2. To be able to go back to Alaska and combat fish the Kenai River, once again before I get too much older.

3. Combat Fishing - August 1991, Kenai River, Alaska. Fought a 55 lb. King Salmon for 45 minutes, before I landed it. Caught it using a Med. weight surf rod, 40 lb. test spider-wire fishing line, a bobber, (00) double ought hook and one night-crawler. Most everyone else was using a fancy lure or jig of some kind. I just relied on the basics!

4. Before my Combat Fishing experience in 1991, the largest fish I caught, the most fun and exciting fishing experience was deep sea fishing out of Depot Bay, Oregon. I worked for Intel Corporation in Beaverton and Aloha, Oregon at the time. My girl friend sent me deep sea fishing for my birthday (July 1991). She chartered a fishing boat for me, from Depot Bay, Oregon and I went fishing for the entire day. It was quite a memorable experience. My first fish I caught that day is nick-named "The Mother-in-law" fish. My God, that thing was ugly. I knew then why it was called by it's nick-name, as it reminded me of my former mother-in-law. Throughout the rest of the day I caught an array of sea bass and perch, but the best catch was a 6 ft. 40 lb. flounder. It was in about 60 to 70 feet of water and on the bottom. It took me one hour to land him. Very tiring, indeed. I also had a double header of bumble-bee sea bass (yellow and black verticle stripes - hence the name) later that same day and they were only 15 lbs. each, but felt heavier than what they actually were, when I had fought them for 30 minutes trying to get them up to the boat so I could use a gaff hook to land them.
