i was just thinking i've had a horrible day, yet i still feel very happy watching my fish swim.

today, i had plans to get up and upgrade my saltwater tank, to a larger set up (going from a 3ft to a 4ft tank, not much but best i can afford, besides theres only 5 fish in it :) )
well. i get up, my new dwarf lion fish (brought on friday) is dead....
i'm just going what the hell.
no idea why he's dead. but i did cut him open and his organs were liquid, i suspect he was ocean caught by some cruel methods.
so i figured that happens better get to upgrading the tank, goes smoothly, accidentally break the nozzle between my skimmer and pump, oh no.
got that working using a different if slightly oversized pump.

got the salt set up, bare bottom with live rock, looks so much cleaner, really impressed with it.

finally got that done, went to sit down and relax.

about an hour later my mum comes running out to me, turns out my freshwater tank, the whole back pannel has cracked, and most of the water is on my bedroom floor.

lost 2 fish from that, my african butterfly fish, and a kuhli loach. really torn up about the butterfly.
spent the next 5 hours moving furniture out of my room, and trying to dry the carpet.

but sitting here now watching my remaining tanks, i still feel happy and at peace with everything.
and i now know why i love my fish.
because no matter how much bad can happen, they still give me the peace and quiet to relax and come to peace with it all.

so i ask you all, why do you love your fish?

and the rest of the freshwater are fine, currently swimming abotu happily in my planted, but they need a new tank asap as my 30 gallon planted is massively overstocked, thank god the tank that cracked i recently sold alot of the fish in it as i intended to rework my stock to something more suitable, and my breeding family of synodontis petricola are ok.

Wow talk about a bad day, what size was the tank that busted. The things I like most is being able to create a world for the fish to live in and buying them when there tiny and watching them grow to full size.

The greatest thing is see your little monster been feed to grow up...For example, my Bichir, i'm used to cut some lambaris and guppyes, because of the size of him, and cause he couldn't catch them by himself. Then, you start seeing that your fish are growing up, and finally, he is able to catch the fish alone, kill and eat...
In my case, i like to buy my fishes in the smaller size possible, cause when they start growing, they recognize me, and start "following" me when get closer to the tank.(this could be hungry to haha)
Anyway, If you keep, I must Love it.

I love fish because of the different disciplines that combine into good animal husbandry. I love my fish because they are there when I need them and not annoying when I don't. I love fish for more reasons than I can list.

Sorry about your streak of bad luck, but great story, though!
I love my fish because they are fun to watch, and they are as personable as any other pet. Each has his/her own preferences and tempraments, and I dont think that enough people appreciate a fish's intelligence and personality.

i love my fish because they make me happy despite the financial downside. :D

I love my fish because they make me feel better after a crappie day.

I love my fish cause its a nice decorative fetcher to a house, they brighten up my day after a long day of work, just come home sit back and enjoy my aquarium. The gf things im a freak for always watching them, but she doesn't get the meaning of it all.

Sorry for your lose, but the brighter thing is now you can add a couple new fish and watch them grow again. :)
