Why does everyone say it's bad to have snails?

Is this true? IDK, i never had any on purpose, but a lot of people talk about how to get rid of them... do they have negative effects? or is it just certain snails?

Pond snails are just annoying. They breed SO much that you will soon have like 5000 in your tank. Plus they destroy plants if you have them.

I have tons of baby snails in my filters on the 55g. Once they grow to a certain size, they migrate into the tank to become a snack for my fish. It seems that they will breed at a very young age.

So how do you get rid of them if you only have small tanks
