I'm not complaining or anything but I just think it's interesting how people are always trying to get a bigger aquarium. It's understandable for someone with a 10g to upgrade but I've seen people with 200g aquariums and they still want to upgrade! Why is this?

Dude...this is MFK...it comes with the territory LOL

All kidding aside, lots of different reasons why one would want to upgrade.

I started with an 80 gallon with a single fish then upgraded him to a 120. I now have 5 fish in that 120 and by next year, if they haven't killed eachother, I'll be moving them to a 220 or bigger.

My reasoning? I've got more fish, therefore they need the space. :)

i dont atm, sometimes i want bigger than my 300g, then other times i get fed up with having a large tank...

There are many reason and everybody has their own but I imagine for many it comes down to
-wanting to house a large showpiece fish such as an Aro
-wanting to house multiple large showpiece species together
-having an aggressive comm. that needs more space to be successful
-wanting to give their fish as much room as they can afford for comfort
-wanting to increase the likely hood of success keeping darty or sensitive fish
-wanting to keep more fish then they are currently capable.
Personally I'd like to have one really large show tank and multiple smaller tanks in the 125-240 range. The largest tank would be for housing Aros and Rays. While the smaller would be either dedicated toward breeding certain species or creating mini copies of habitats of peaceful community fish.

For me, it's because I keep coming across cool fish that I want. I feel like I'm tapped out on my 180 when everybody gets full size. Plus I just got a P. Granulosus that is gonna need a bigger tank than the 180 when grown.

My goldfish keep growing.. So far I'm at 400ltrs and I'm guna need 4x that once they're all grown up..

When your fish grow you either upgrade or they go...

I'm actually chasing a smaller tank at the moment :P

Not just Max size, but some fish look better in certain dimension-ed tanks than others. At least in my eyes..

Currently chasing a 4x3x2, i think it's sold though :( (It's smaller than my 300)

Well, upgrading comes with this hobby or shall I say addiction. I have started out with a 20gallon long. I always wanted to go bigger and bigger to keep my dream fish....here I am with a 7 foot by 4 foot by 2 foot or something like that 450 gallons and I still will upgrade in the disntant future to something at least 1000 gallons. Maybe a 10 foot by 5 foot by 4 foot? Bigger is better. You can stock more you can stock WHAT you WANT without restriction.

Ps. Since I've had My tank so long My tank feels like a 180 gallon or something even though it's 450 gallons. it always happens lol.

Do you happen to watch The king of diy's videos?
He has everything that you mentioned earlier.
