why does my fish change color so much is it ok

wow are all those pics really the same fish?

i got some acaras last week, they do the same thing. Radical color changes depending on mood and activity (feeding time, being intimidated, intimidating other fish, mood.) Cichlids are known for being that way. I like it, its like getting several different looking fish in one LOL. Alot of fish will change color when spawning too. Think of it like birds will show off fancy feathers for a prospective mate, same idea here with the fish. Lighting and substrate also will change the appearance of your fish .

Sounds completely normal. Like cichlid girl said, mood, feeding, breeding will all effect the color and patterns.

there los of fish that change color on and off for any reason. stress and breeding is the most reasons ive seen. My venestus hyrbids do it alot!

id say its normal. sev's belong in the SA/CA section. its a great looking fish! i love those sev's..
