Why does my red devil turn white at night?

I’ve noticed every night recently when we get home that our red devil (Curtis) is a whitish color. But in the Am his back to his red/orange color. Not sure why. Does anyone know why this could be... if it’s something I need to change or is it normal?

My oscar turns a whitish color at night sometimes I think its when they are resting.

My guess is that the night fading of fish is one form of natures camouflage to help a resting fish avoid predator detection & survive the night.
