So the title of this thread is that sticky. I read it, its a good read, real good read, and i feel like i should be concerned for my rays now and maybe remove some tankmates but this will take some time to do since im already building a 1000 gallon tank to move everyone to. They are all in a 10' round 3' deep swimming pool, all being the stock list to follow:
1-19" Motoro sp "Orange Flower" peru got him from jeff rapps
1-18" Marbled Motoro female who also came from jeff rapps
1-10" Leopoldi female (she is my avatar)
2-14"-16" Azul Peacock Bass
4-12"-14" Oscars
5-14"-18" plecos
2-12"&14" RTCs
1-18"+ RTC/TSN Hybrid
1-4" Red Devil (God knows how he didnt become food at 2" but hes a champ so hes earned his place)
1-7" Yellow Acara
1-25" Clown Knife
1-15"+ Florida Gar
1-18"+ Red Belly Pacu
1-12" Dovii
I feel like im leaving someone off the list... Anyway the point is after reading the sticky i feel like im going to have to build another tank so i can split up some of these guys. I dont ever see anyone going for the rays they are always chasing each other, like the dovii will chase the azuls or the azuls will chase manny the pacu or my oscars constantly chasing each other. I mean my Leopoldi will chase an oscar when it steals a worm from her, she gets pissed and will chase it around the pool before she comes back to me for a new worm. I could see the big cats getting them stressed at night possibly... Well guess the sticky gives me a good excuse to build the rays their own tank. Ill have to see how much room is left in my basement but it would be pretty cool if i had the room to build them a 16'x8'x4' tank. Plywood of course. Interesting turn of events from a little reading.
The hybrid was a rescue and one of the RTCs as well so they werent intended just kind of take in strays i cant see stuff confined. It irritates me.
Im a little concerned about the bottom space when i move everyone to the 8'x4'x4' im building so i can tear down the pool so i can put floor jacks in to support the 336 gallon tank im building in the dining room. I feel like the rays and the cats will be aweful cramped. And the 5 monster plecos are pretty active too.
Should i be worried? are there any in there anyone else would remove?
