State of chaos
Was fishing with Eugene (Gene0514) at Wolf pond in Staten Island today. He found a dead Muskrat, and I went looking for a stick to move it. I looked in a bush on the bank and saw a big black tail, which, of course, I grabbed. This big girl popped out :D she was opaque, and very pissed off. She actually had an old Bass hook in her ventral scales, which Eugene took out (you can see that in one of the pics) and then we turned her loose. I did get to talk to a few bystanders who were quite shocked and seemed to think this was a venomous Snake. Hopefully they will be less likely to kill a Snake they may see in the future. Thought the herpers would get a kick out of it:grinno:

They prob thought it was a cottonmouth.. Everyone thinks any snake that "lives" in the water is a cottonmouth. This one kid in my school tried to argue with me that there are cottonmouths in ny... He mentioned a cottonmouth and I said "nah its a northern watersnake, cottonmouths don't live up here" He responded with " You're wrong. Its a snake that lives in the water what else could it be." Me: " A northern water snake -_-" My cousin also tried to argue that there were cottonmouths in ny...
