They are always just "plottin" somethin as Peter Griffin would say..LOL

Although this owner should have known better.....:nilly:, that Midas KNOWS that eventually those dovii will eventually be a "problem", and likely outgrow him and his family.

Nature is brutal, but dam they are intelligent fish! Oh yeah, and little "devils" none the less..

Also, those Dovii were handlin business pretty darn good, albeit after the fact of loosing half their eggs probably.

I'm not the tree hugger type but it really is almost like fighting dogs. Kinda feel bad for the fish. Pitbulls don't know any better...their owners throw them in a pit in close quarters and they fight. It's kinda the same with these fish.

Part of me does feel bad.

Cool video none the less.

Trust me guys Justin wouldn't have put those fish together for the sole purpose to fight , the Midas was his prize fish called "rocky" he would never let any serious damage get caused to him or the dovii , the dovii pair were moved to another tank after this video was made to prevent further fighting
So its not quite the same as pit bull fighting even though all the fish are mean as hell :D

It's rather offensive to refer to fish as pitbull like. It's the owner not the dog in almost all dog fighting situations.

Pit bull fish- a fish that if raised right looks tough as nails but in reality wouldn't harm a fly.

Nah I think I'd rather have a chihuahua fish- a pretty fish that for no reason at all will snap, bear its teeth, then proceed to rip chunks out of your finger for no reason at all. Especially during feeding time!

hey all thats my video, as evz said they was split up, the female dovii i grew from 1 inch in my 180g community and she lived with rocky for ages with other fish no problem, i ordered the 300g i have now and was planning to keep the dovii in the other tank hence aquireing the male at 6inch a few months before this. long story short, plans changed and i sold off lots of fish, the smaller tank, leaving me with the decision of which pair to keep, as you can see in the video the fish have no damage and this was a rare fight. they were getting more common and to be fair i thought i would share the video and then split them up, i did and kept the midas pair. i still have the female and lost rocky a few months back unfortunately.

As for people fighting fish i doubt its common for people to intentionally place fish together to fight, if they do they are morons, as for keeping multiple aggressive fish in a community i am afraid fights are inevitable, sometimes tanks become un balanced i was never gonna let them kill each other, did you enjoy wating the video, probably. i have a wyckii at 18inch in my 300g now with cichlids and many people attempt and succeed in mixing aggressive fish with some bumps along the way.
so if your gonna get like that people then dont keep any fish together, jardini, malawii, lungs, atf, vampire fish, wolf fish, big catfish, hell even tiger barbs tear up fish! all of us with big comms deal with the fact that sometimes s**t happens.

justarn, aww man so sorry you lost that midas "Rocky", darn he was awesome. Also I meant NO OFFENSE, I was just in AWE to be honest. I also don't condone fighting of any animals, but kind of just thought the way "Rocky" went at that pair of Dovii made me think of a pit bull aggressive wise. I've kept RD's/Midas for years, and love their personality. I have ALSO had issues trying to mix different cishlids, but your video is a TRUE LESSON to anyone to ALWAYS have another tank, because you NEVER know whats going to happen. May I ask what happened to Rocky?

P.S.: Also I FIGURED that video belonged to somebody here, glad I was right!

Cheers fella. Rocky along with my other midas got an odd growth on their fins, lumpy and bleeding they got weak then one day i came home and my butti had beaten them both really bad, i removed the butti but it was already inevitable... i had to euthanize rocky and the big orange male died the next day.
Would like to add its not best to describe pits character as aggressive it will upset people, prob best to say midas have a similar couragous character tho.
