I've never gotten a clear answer on why fish do this. I think she's stressed by her new tank. I moved her from a 45 to a 62 4 days ago. She's the only puff that lives by herself because shes antisocial. the tank was is cycled and the prior residents were fine there. i did 25% water change, parameters are normal. She's been under a rock hiding, and she went between the wall and the internal filter after the water change 5 hours ago, and shes not gone back into hiding. Its not the usual current surfing.
Any ideas?
I grabbed my phone and she came out for a sec and then rushed back by the filter. She has lots of hiding places, so she's wanting the circulation for some reason.
Thanks in advance!

maybe salinty has something to do with it???

But to be fair, dont really see any major problem with the way your puffer is acting based on that video...

Oh! Hi Mr Homer! glad you asked!
thats the other thing, what kind of gsp is she? She looks like my other 3 that grew big like her, but she shows a reluctance to indulge in salt showers. The puffs love a hand full of salt to sniff around and lay in, but not her. Could she be a freshwater puff?

Hmmmmm... i can only guess maybe due to its size its not ready to start venturing into saltier waters, unlike the others which might be older and are ready for the slow transition? Hence them showing more interest in the salt baths?

Actually Francine is our senior resident. She matured last year around this time and bloomed into a spectacular 5" beauty. the rest are all late bloomers, which brings me to another question, Do you think that stress of their experience could stunt or delay their growth? All these have been with us for over a year and only about 7 have grown out of their jouvenile phase. Arent all species of GSPs able to grow to 5"?

I see this behavior in a lot of saltwater puffers,I find that adding ghost shrimp and mollies can help bring out a fish

I mean its been said that if a fish in earlier stages of life werent living in optimal conditions it could effect them later on... then again, it could also just be down to bad genes of that individual puffer?

You're so smart! thats a great idea! She's been alone because she takes chunks out of other puffs, but probably wont bite a molly. I bet she'd like a pet. The other puffers never bite their pet goldfish

well now this isjust sads.
I put a goldfish in there and shes got Francine backed into the corner.
ill post a vid in a few...
